On the race I learned a lot through trees and nature. It’s glorious how the Lord speaks to us in ways that we best understand.

So it all started with my prophetic Keys for the Journey key which says “roots”. When I opened it, I was so stoked because I already have a love for trees and nature and that’s where my mind automatically went. But man, as I dive deeper into what the Lord has to teach me about roots it blows my mind!

When I look at trees I see diversity. There are so many different species of trees – roughly 60,000 different kinds! From their roots to their leaves, so many amazing details that make them distinct. I compare that to tribes in this world. As humans, we are so different from country to country. Even within the same country, we get the opportunity to experience people from all different backgrounds. Like a tree, the Lord etched each one of us exactly how He wanted. He literally doesn’t make mistakes, even if we hate the way our hair falls or the way our brains process things.

It’s like the roots of a tree and how they go in any direction searching for nutrients, they need that to survive. What we have walked through in life has established something in us to give us experience to connect with a group of people we may never have had the opportunity to connect with.

When I stop and observe the beauty of nature and the trees, I see differences in each tree making it unique. Whether it be how one has colored leaves and one has green leaves or how one has more branches than the other. It’s beautiful to see the difference, right? It would be boring if every single tree looked the exact same. So why are we so hard on ourselves when we don’t look exactly like the person on social media? Why are we so quick to discount the beauty in ourselves that the Lord has so graciously knitted together? Trust me, I am guilty of this as well but when I look at trees I remind myself how being different is so beautiful.

There is something so special about how the Lord created you. It allows a deeper bond between you and the Father to walk in that. I encourage you today to think about what makes you unique and ask the Lord about it. Be like a tree and just embrace your beauty with firm roots in the Lord. Go outside and look at a tree for a bit and notice all the differences. It’s beautiful and so are you!

**Update on the race – we will know what’s next mid to late May. Thank you for your patience and prayers during this time, it’s really appreciated! Happy Earth Day!!
